De novo assembly of Bacteria and Vertebrate transcriptome

nicklin - Posted on 18 January 2012

Project Description:

We are currently involved in a number of de novo transcriptome of Bacteria and Vertebrate species using Next Generation Sequencing (Illumina and 454). The objective of these projects are to construct the opening reading frames (ORFs) of the various species. With these ORFs, we will be able to expose the organism to multiple different conditions and compare the different in transcription. This will enable us to understand more about the organism.

Research Project Details
Project Duration:
06/2011 to 12/2014
Project Significance:
Obtain a list of ORFs and a profile of the gene expression which will eventually lead to multiple publications.
Remarks:
De novo transcriptome is a difficult task which will require large amount of computational resources. HPC can provide computational resources for the project to move forward.
