Project Title:

New Gas-Phase Chemistry Solver for the PATH Modeling System

Project Description:

Develop an appropriate numerical approach and implement the selected numerical solver together in the SAQM (an air quality model)

Project Duration:

1 year

Project Significance:
The Environmental Protection Department developed a modeling system code-named PATH (Pollutants in the atmosphere and their Transport over Hong Kong) for simulating regional air quality. More efficient and accurate numerical methods than what is used in PATH for solving the chemical reactions are developed in the newer air quality model.
Results Achieved:

A new efficient and accurate chemistry solver for the Environmental Protection Department

Remarks on the Use of High Performance Computing Cluster:

The numerical solver will be tested in the PC Clusters provided by HPC Cluster, HKU.
