Professor S T Tan |

Professor Tan obtained his B.Sc.(Hons) and PhD degrees
from the University of Leeds, UK in 1975 and 1979 respectively. He is a
Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, a Chartered Engineer and a
Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and a Member of the
American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He has over 20 years of
experience in mechanical CAD/CAM applications. His research interests
include layered manufacturing, geometric modeling and its applications in
Mechanical Engineering. He is the author and co-author of numerous research
publications, one of which won the Edwin Walker Prize in the UKˇ¦s IMechE
Journal of Engineering Manufacture in 1987. ˇ@ |

He was the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of The University of Hong Kong from 1996-2003. In 2002, he was appointed Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, The University of Hong Kong. Professor Tan is a member of the advisory editorial board of the CAD Journal, a member of the Hong Kong Productivity Council, a member of the IMechE committee (HK Branch), a member of the Innovation Technology Fundˇ¦s Foundation Industries Subcommittee of the HKSAR Government and a Consultant Professor at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology. | |
