Metal complex inhibitors for specific proteins

faisalm - Posted on 13 November 2012

Project Description:

This project involves the use of inorganic metal complexes synthesized from modified natural organic molecules that are specific to a protein/ protein group. The complex geometry is an important factor as it would affect the binding to the protein in a biological environment. Thus, the use of computational chemistry becomes important with which a more accurate geometry of the complex could be designed by modifying the ligand structure to fit the binding site of the protein.

Project Duration:
11/2012 to 08/2014
Project Significance:
The project is to optimize structures of metal complexes and then dock them certain proteins. The importance is that computational chemistry will help in not only saving time and energy but also help to direct the synthesis of useful molecules with good inhibition ability of proteins that have therapeutic value.
