Project Description:

The mechanical stability of graphene is very important for its potential applications in nanotechnology. We have known its failure mechanism under tension in 0K by computing the phonons using the displacement method. However, its stability in non-zero temperature is unknown to us.We wish to investigating the mechanical failure mechanism of graphene in non-zero temperature,so that we will have a thorough understanding of the stability of graphene.

Research Project Details
Project Duration:
09/2015 to 08/2019
Project Significance:
The mechanical stability of graphene is very important for its potential applications in nanotechnology, eapecially in the finite temperature. So our result will have a good guid to manufacture functional materials.
Results Achieved:
I am a new PhD student now, so I am just beginning my research. I will spare no effort to my research, and I wish several excellent papers can be published when I graduate from HKU.
Remarks:
HPC is the most important part in my project. All of the calculations in my project are rely on HPC.
