Electrical and Optical Manipulations of Quantum Valley Materials

Project Description: 

The project aims at finding the design principles for making valleytronic devices through the use of electrical and optical controls on electronic materials that provide valley degrees of freedom.
Full quantum mechanical simulations of electronic structures, transport properties and optical responses of a class of two-dimensional materials are the main tasks to be done in this project. From the simulated results, post-processing numerical analysis of the data is required to extract useful information for exploring basic physics, alternative new device possibilities or optimization strategies.
