Discovery of ferroelectricity in PbSe under tension
Project Description:
The two-dimensional (2D) materials IV-VI semiconductors have attracted considerable attention because of their similar construction with black phosphorus and graphene.
To meet the demands of miniaturization, lots of experimental efforts have been devoted to design and prepare ultrathin films to reduce the size.
In my project, I try to use different kind of stress to change the constructions of the single layer of materials to get a new two dimensional ferroelectrics.
Project Duration:
09/2016 to 06/2017
Project Significance:
The two-dimensional (2D) materials serveĀ as the ferroelectric materials apply in capacitors, sonars, random access memories. It is a promising way to achieve integration without scarifying the stable ferroelectricity.
Results Achieved:
In progress
Remarks:
HPC helps me use the software necessary to carry out the density functional theory calculations of the 2D (AX)2 which were based on the Vienna ab initio simulation package (VASP).
