Project Description:

In the recent years, high speed railway has been developing quickly, which has become a main travel mode between cities in many countries, especially in China. A better timetable for high speed railway cannot only fill the great needs of China market, but also provide a more convenience and reliable service to passengers, which can attract more consumers transferring from domestic air flights. Studying how to plan such timetable for daily use and how to effectively make the emergency plans to deal with the uncertainty (e.g. delays, bad weather or even crash) is vital in the railway industry. My study focuses on this point and has been involved in a theme-based project entitled “Safety, reliability, and disruption management of high speed rail and metro systems” (T32-101/15-R), of which my PhD supervisor Professor S.C. Wong is a Co-PI.
