Tests and design of concrete-filled oval & semi-oval hollow sections
Project Description:
Oval & semi-oval hollow sections have been increasingly used in structures recently. Compared with traditiional sections such as rectangular and circular sections, they have aesthetic profiles and provide more choices for architects. The structural performance of concrete-filled oval & semi-oval hollow sections is investigated. The results will be compared with the values calculated from existing international design codes.

Project Significance:
To investigate the structural performance of concrete-filled oval & semi-oval hollow sections, I can find out whether existing international design codes and specifications fit them well or not. Furthermore, I will propose design equations according to the comparison.
Remarks:
Large amount of simulations are conducted to enrich the database for the comparison with the values calculated from existing international design codes, which may make the comparison more convincible and new proposal more reliable.
