Overview

ITS has joined various international grid facilities to provide a comprehensive research computing service for use by University staff and students. Grid computing is the combination of computer resources from multiple organizations applied to the scientific problem that requires a great number of computer processing cycles or the need to process large amounts of data, which is an important platform for developing collaborative research projects with other universities and research institutes.

As all the operations at HKU grid computing facilities require a personal certificate signed from a trusted CA, user must present a valid personal certificate signed from either APGrid PMA, EUGrid PMA or TAG PMA. If a user does not have this kind of personal certificate, he/she is recommended to request a user certificate signed from HKU Grid CA (one of the CA listed in APGrid PMA).
